Scooby-Doo is a beloved cartoon that has stuck around for generations. So it’s no surprise that the famous dog and Mystery, Inc. would be back for another installment. But this time the crew will be back on the big screen with a new, A-list cast.

A New Generation

The classic character is set to return in a new animated feature film next year. The movie, entitled Scoob, is being developed by Warner Bros. Animation Group for release in May 2020. It will be the first time since 2004 that the Mystery, Inc. gang has been seen in theaters.

The story brings Scooby and his team back along with other characters in the Hanna-Barbera world. Together, they will fight to save the world against the evil Dick Dastardly, the villain of Wacky Races. And with this new movie comes a new cast and crew ready to reach a new generation of kids.

An All-Star Cast

It’s been announced that Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried will be playing the on-again, off-again couple of the group, Fred and Daphne. Also tied to the project are Will Forte as Shaggy and Gina Rodriguez as Velma. Fred Welker, the original voice for Fred since the show began, will voice Scooby-Doo (a role he’s had since 2002). Another nice addition to the cast is Tracy Morgan who will play Captain Caveman.

Both Efron and Seyfried are perfect to pull off the voices of their famous characters because of their wide range as actors. Since they both have played in comedic roles, they are sure to offer great energy and fun to Fred and Daphne.

A Legendary Character

In fact, it’s the comedy and camaraderie of Scooby-Doo that is partly why the character has lasted so long. Since 1969, several generations have grown up with the scared but lovable dog through different mediums including animated series, TV movies, and comic books. There were also two live-action films: Scooby Doo back in 2002 and the sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed in 2004.

Bringing Scooby back to the big screen is director, Tony Cervone. Chris Columbus, Pam Coats, and Allison Abbate will serve as producers. With this great cast and crew, Scoob is sure to be a hit when it comes to theaters in May of next year.
