Nicole Scherzinger To Rejoin Pussycat Dolls On Reunion Tour
Published on October 1, 2019
Following her original girl group Eden’s Crush’s breakup, singer Nicole Scherzinger found success with The Pussycat Dolls. It’s been 10 years since the pop group last took the stage. Fortunately, the other members of the group are working on a comeback tour. While’s she’s been a solo superstar, Scherzinger is looking to rejoin them.
Bringing The Band Back Together
A source close to the band told The Sun about Scherzinger rejoining the group. For her, it was all about timing. “Nicole has long turned down offers for a reunion, but with the ten-year anniversary of their hiatus passing, she finally said she was ready. Nicole was made a multi-million pound offer to re-join the group and was given a huge advance, which made it impossible for her to turn down,” the source told the publication.
Can fans expect to hear some new tunes? Another source says it’s a possibility. “It’s in the early stages, but now they’re going to be back together, a couple of them, including Nicole, have said they’d be open to working on some new sounds together,” another source told The Sun. The tour is slated to kick off in 2020.
Always A Doll At Heart
Over the summer, Scherzinger expressed interest in reuniting with the group. During an appearance on Fitzy and Wippa, she mentioned how much she missed seeing her old bandmates. “When I went solo after, I really enjoyed touring with my dancers and I was like ‘God I miss my girls,’ and I’d love for us to be able to get back out and just enjoy it and breathe,” Scherzinger said on the show.
Scherzinger released her debut solo album Killer Love back in 2011. The release offered two singles in the U.S.: “Don’t Hold Your Breath” and “Right There (feat. 50 Cent)”. Three years later, Scherzinger unveiled her sophomore studio album Big Fat Lie.
It’s Been A While
In recent years, Scherzinger has been reconnecting with members of The Pussycat Dolls. In a 2017 interview with The Sun, she discussed having dinner with Ashley Roberts and Kim Wyatt. “That was a really big deal for me because I don’t think I’d seen Kim in seven years. It was lovely. We’re grown women now. [As you get older] you become more accepting and loving, right? And supportive of each other. So it was really nice for us to reconnect and it was a great laugh,” she told The Sun. The trio didn’t look back on old times, either. “We didn’t discuss the past, we were all about the present. Kim’s got two babies now, and she’s from Missouri, and her children have English accents! We caught up with girl stuff and connected as women,” Scherzinger also told The Sun.
Years In The Making
Plans for a Pussycat Dolls reunion began back in 2017, but were shut down after Carmit Bachar refused to join. Bachar left the group six months before the release of their sophomore studio album Doll Domination. Last year, Wyatt talked about reuniting with the girls on The Chris Ramsey Show. “We’re all just in a place where we’re kind of ready to live it all again, and make it fun and enjoy it and everything. So yeah, we’re looking at the possibilities,” Wyatt said on the show. “When I’ve got a dream and I’ve set my intent, I’m quite relentless, so I’m just pushing it forward and making it happen. Everybody’s on board, but like I said, it’s easier said than done, so we’re looking at different possibilities of making it happen.” The reunion was originally planned for the end of 2018.
Fans will be saying, “Take my money” when the world tour finally gets announced.
