Every once in a while, a movie comes along to simply frighten you. Many times, it’s a movie you’ve never heard about before. One Netflix movie has been causing the internet to freak out. After seeing how people have responded, you might be a bit frightened to see it yourself.

Leaving Betty And Archie Behind

Directed by Paco Plaza, Veronica tells the tale of a girl that lost her life via a ouija board. Plaza knows a thing or two about horror films. He’s the man behind the critically acclaimed REC movie trilogy. The film is based on the real-life tragedy of Estefania Gutierrez Lazaro.

Demon Walk With Me

The movie, which was released in America earlier this year, struck a nerve with Netflix fans. Many of them couldn’t even finish the film because it was so terrifying. “Started watching Veronica on Netflix (huge REC fan so interested in anything Paco Plaza is involved in) but the demon walking down the hallway scene freaked me out so much I had to turn it off,” Twitter user weyland76 said.

Ouija, Are You With Me?

The film also managed to force people to simply avoid doing seances altogether. “I nearly peed my pants watch Veronica on Netflix last night. Yet another reason to NOT do an Ouija board,” Twitter user HorrorReader said. “Just watched Véronica on Netflix and all I can say yet again is…OUIJA BOARDS ARE EVIL STOP USING THEM,” Twitter user aguacatemalteco stated.

Don’t Believe The Hype?

While many people are spooked beyond, other people don’t seem to understand the buzz. “Just watched the “scariest film of the year” on Netflix – #Veronica. It was good, quite scary, a few jump scares, creepy demons and ouija boards… Yet definitely not THE scariest film I have ever seen,” Twitter user EvaStr93 said.

A Scary Vision

For Plaza, this was just another masterpiece in his horror film collection. While talking about Veronica at the Toronto International Film Festival, he simply stated that he had one goal in mind. I just wanted to make a whole vision… but the whole story of Veronica and the sisters and Antonito, this little Marlon Brando with glasses, it’s all a vision,” he said.
