5 Must-See ‘Game Of Thrones’ Scenes Before The Finale
Published on April 9, 2019
The eighth and final season of ‘Game Of Thrones’ is upon us, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Die-hard fans who have watched every second of the show are now rewatching it to ensure they get the full effects of the April premiere. People who have never watched the show are finally succumbing to societal pressures and watching it, rushing to finish all seven seasons before the premiere. Whether you’re a veteran or newbie, though, there are certain scenes you MUST relive before the final season debuts. Beware, spoilers below!
The Red Wedding: Season 3, Episode 9
Even if you haven’t been a fan of the show, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the “Red Wedding.” It is a scarring scene; it’s one that stays with you from the second you watch it. A lot of favorite characters are killed. But it’s a turning moment for the show. It sets the tone for what’s to come.
Shame, Cersei; Season 5, Episode 10
The Queen of Westeros, Cersei, endures a brutal shaming that is somehow both welcome and cringeworthy. Even without seeing the show, you’ve undoubtedly heard or been part of a “shame” reference and this is the scene it originated from. She, for better or for worse, figuratively and literally, walked into her own fate.
Hodor; Season 6, Episode 5
When it comes to GOT scenes that stick with you, the death of Hodor is certainly among them. The show holds no punches as far as killing off major characters. However, Hodor was different in the case in that his death, which was at the hands of the White Walkers, brought great sadness to the audience.
The Purple Wedding; Season 4, Episode 2
There was perhaps no villain in this show quite as evil as King Geoffrey. And while his death was certainly a welcomed one, it still came as an absolute shock to every viewer. Having such a central character to the show killed off relatively early truly set the tone for ‘Game Of Thrones.’
Blackwater Battle; Season 2, Episode 9
The battle scenes are one of the series’ staples. They are some of the most anticipated scenes during each season. But if there’s one you truly need to watch before the series finale, it’s the season two Blackwater episode. Fan-favorite Tyrion saved the kingdom against Stannis and Baratheon army by setting an explosion to the sea – and all the ships in it.
