New ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Series To Be Set in Númenor
Published on April 18, 2019
Fans of the popular franchise were hyped when Amazon announced plans for its billion-dollar Lord of the Rings series back in 2017. Recent tweets from the official twitter have shed new light upon where, and when in Middle Earth the new series is going to take place.
Very little has been told about the series being developed by Amazon until a few recent tweets from the series’ official Twitter page showing a map of Middle Earth and containing a line from Rings of Power.

With each consecutive tweet, the map was updated and the next line from the verse given until it was complete.
“Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for mortal men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne;
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them;
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.”
A Mysterious Island
The latest map, posted along with the final line, gives us a major clue as to when the Amazon prequel is set to take place.

Looking to the bottom-left corner of the map, you may notice something that wasn’t there before…
The island of Númenor. This detail is so important because we know that the island existed only during the second age, and was inhabited by none other than the Dúnedain (Aragorn’s ancestors).
This allows us to say, with near certainty, that the series will be taking place during the second age and, at the very least, involve the island of Númenor. Could we be getting an in-depth look at the making of the ring of power? Only time will tell!
