Celine Dion is one of the most successful artists of the modern era. Her music has transcended countries, cultures, and several languages, and her legacy will likely live on and on. However, Celine Dion did not have an particularly easy life, despite her fame and wealth. The iconic Canadian singer has had to overcome hurdle after hurdle to build the million-dollar career and life she now has.

Celine Wasn’t Born Into Money

Many successful musicians come from successful families who can help them socially and financially on their rise to fame. However, that wasn’t the case for Dion. She came from a large family that struggled to make ends meet in her early childhood. Dion said in an interview, “Three or four of us in the same bed was normal to us. We weren’t poor, but we never had money… We were given love and affection and support. What else did we need?”

She Had Fame And Fortune, But She Wanted Something More

Celine Dion married her lifelong partner and manager Rene Angelil in 1994. Their relationship was always strong, but they struggled for many years to have children. Dion even suffered a miscarriage before she was able to conceive via in-vitro fertilization. Though their fertility hardship was very public, Celine kept a positive attitude and never gave up on her dream to have a family. She and Rene eventually had three sons together.

Celine’s Heart “Will Go On” After Tragic Loss

Celine Dion lost many of her loved ones, including her brother, niece, brother-in-law, and father throughout her career. The hardest loss, however, was that of her beloved husband in 2016. Rene lost a battle with cancer just days before Celine’s brother passed away. At Rene’s memorial, Dion told the crowd, “He’s always been on stage with me, and nothing will ever change that.” She has continued to push forward for her family and has shown the world that even the most difficult loss doesn’t have to stop you from being happy with the loved ones you have.
