Why You Should Binge ‘Peaky Blinders’ Before Its Fifth Season

Published on October 7, 2019

One show that keeps popping up on everyone’s radar is Peaky Blinders. The series has earned numerous accolades, including Best Drama Series at the BAFTA Television Awards. With that much praise, you might want to check it out. With season five coming, we tell you why if you’re still holding out, you should finally dive in a binge the show.

What’s It About?

Peaky Blinders is based on the real-life Peaky Blinders gang in England. The gang reigned terror in the streets from the 1890s to the 1930s. Cillian Murphy plays the Peaky Blinders leader Thomas “Tommy” Shelby. The British actor gained praise for his work as Darren in Disco Pigs and Jonathan Crane in The Dark Knight trilogy.

A Fantastic Cast

With Murphy as the lead, Peaky Blinders offers a slew of amazing talent as support. Helen McCrory portrays Tommy’s aunt Elizabeth “Polly” Gray. The actress’s performance earned her a Best Actress nomination at the TV Choice Awards. The show also features Annabelle Wallis, Paul Anderson, and brothers Finn and Joe Cole.

Tom Hardy Is Involved

Actor Tom Hardy has a recurring role as gangster Alfie Solomon. Hardy worked with Cillian Murphy in the 2010 film Inception. “I think it is a tribute to the show and the writing that it can attract the caliber of actor like Tom Hardy. It was great to catch up with him and work with him again, he and I are pals of old,” Murphy told Deadline.

All Seasons Available On Netflix

Peaky Blinders originally debuted in 2013 on BBC Two. For Americans hearing about the show, it was difficult to legally view it anywhere. Fortunately, Netflix signed a deal to stream the entire series on its service. Old and new fans alike can watch the whole thing from the start with ease.

Season Five Arrives In October

Season five of the series will arrive on Netflix in October. In this season, the financial crash of 1929 hits the streets. A politician confronts Shelby about changing Britain for the better. Season five includes new actors, including Kate Dickie as Mother Superior and Elliot Cowan as journalist Michael Levitt.
